Job Description

The Senior Estimator at LADMA Traffic Control plays a pivotal role in building strong client relationships and securing profitable business opportunities. This position involves preparing detailed and accurate estimates, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with the Operations Department to ensure the accuracy and success of proposals. The Senior Estimator will also support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the strategic growth of the estimating department.

Responsibilities

• Develop and submit accurate estimates for traffic control services based on customer and operational requests.

• Review and clarify proposals, negotiate projects, and evaluate project scope and special conditions (e.g., site access, personnel, and equipment needs).

• Attend pre-bid meetings to understand project requirements and scope of work.

• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure estimates align with project needs and compliance standards.

• Track and manage estimates using CRM software and evaluate close ratios for improvement.

• Ensure estimates comply with local, state, and federal traffic control requirements.

• Build relationships with current and potential clients through calls, meetings, and regular follow-ups.

• Develop traffic control plans tailored to client needs and project specifications.

• Analyze data to prepare competitive and accurate bid proposals.

• Track vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.

• Prepare preliminary schedules for successfully awarded projects.

• Mentor team members and provide on-the-job training to enhance departmental expertise.

• Attend customer lunches and other events to maintain and strengthen client relationships.

• Continuously improve estimating processes and billing accuracy to support the company’s growth.

• Perform other functions and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction or traffic control industry is preferred.

• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to solve problems and think critically in dynamic situations.

• Proven ability to build and manage client relationships.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word); experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software is preferred.

• Knowledge of MUTCD standards and traffic control regulations is a plus.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

• Strong technical literacy and ability to interpret technical specifications.

Additional Information

Compensation:

• Hiring range: $80,000 – $85,000 per year. Compensation will consider internal equity and may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location. Bonus opportunities may be included.
